Kevin Kim
Hi! My name is Kevin and I graduated from CSUCI in May of 2025 with a B.S. in Business. That same year, I participated in Plot-a-Thon and my team won Best in R along with my teammates Jonathan, Connor, and Destiny. Competing in Plot-a-Thon was one of the most memorable experiences I had at CI. It was a lot of fun being in a competitive environment, pushing myself to learn new things, and getting to collaborate with people from different disciplines while working towards a similar goal. I currently work as an Associate Technical Account Manager for Yardi Systems, a property management software company. Many of our clients rely on our technology for accurate data to make business decisions. Data visualization – charts, graphs, maps – are fundamental to good customer relationship management.
Madison Guerrero
I am currently pursuing my MBA at California State University, Bakersfield. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. I currently intern with DHL Supply Chain, where I analyze logistics data to improve transportation efficiency and sustainability. This past week I just got promoted to Subject Matter Expert in Operations Labor Management Analytics.
I participated in the 2024 CSU Plot-A-Thon, where my team focused on using National Parks data to uncover insights through visualization and storytelling. The experience strengthened my ability to translate complex datasets into a meaningful story, a skill I continue to apply in my professional projects.
I am so grateful for the Plot-A-Thon experience because it taught me how to work under pressure, collaborate effectively, and communicate data insights with confidence. Even now in my data analyst internship, I still apply many of those skills when presenting findings and solving real business problems through data.
Martin Gama
I’m Martin Gama and I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business at CSU Channel Islands in 2023. In that same year, my team and I won the 2023 Plot-A-Thon. Shortly afterward, I began as a Marketing Analytics Intern at Premier America Credit Union and, over the last 2.5 years, progressed into roles as a Junior Marketing Data Analyst and now a Business Intelligence Marketing Analyst. The Plot-A-Thon provided an invaluable project-based environment where I worked with real-world data in Excel. Collaborating with a new team helped me strengthen my skills in data cleaning, creating visualizations and insights, and communicating findings to stakeholders. These fundamentals laid the groundwork for my analytics skill set and directly contributed to my confidence in pursuing a career as a data analyst. In my current role, I apply these same fundamental skills daily, and it motivates me to continue growing in the field of analytics.
